Plant Notes

| Last updated: January 2023 |

According to the Singapore flora checklist published in 2022 (page 257), the name Merremia umbellata was incorrectly applied to this plant. Merremia umbellata refers to a different plant not found in Singapore. A check in the iNaturalist website on 15 January 2023 did not find any record of both Merremia umbellata and Camonea pilosa from Singapore. Interestingly, there were 5 records and 13 records of Camonea pilosa and Merremia umbellata respectively from our neighbouring country, Malaysia.

This vine is the host plant of several insects found here, namely Aspidomorpha furcata (Tortoise Beetle), Acanthocoris scaber (Leaf-footed Bug) and caterpillar of the moth, Hyposidra talaca (Black Inch Worm).
